Abacus provides database maintenance and support services to over 40 databases at entertainment company, Sony Music. In addition to regular maintenance of the databases and supporting their users, we have implemented numerous projects such as building the high-availability solutions to their databases, designed their web marketing database, designed their data warehouse databases, upgraded their databases through numerous software upgrades (both database software as well as their application upgrades).
In addition we have handled a major disaster where a major application database server was wiped out and the system administrators had no proper backup. Working with the system administration team, we restored a two month old backup from the tapes and successfully recovered the databases.
TopNew York Times
Abacus was brought into New York Times to investigate performance issues with their news website authentication database. After we successfully identified the issues and fixed them, New York Times continued to use our services to redesign their authentication database, upgrade it and rebuild the whole database. By doing these we were able to build a very robust, scalable and agile databases for New York Times. Since then they have not experienced any problem.
We were also involved in numerous projects for New York Times. We built their high availability system for their databases and numerous occasions helped them keep their applications running and databases available at all times.

Abacus was responsible for managing their high profile PeopleSoft database administration team for their billing system called BERT. We successfully streamlined the process to bring the administration under control. We defined processes, standards, proactive steps which helped build and maintain well-designed databases and also have in place a streamlined process to support the users and developers in a timely fashion.
TopKPMG/Bearing Point
Abacus was responsible for design of their PeopleSoft databases and administering them. As in Ernst & Young, we successfully accomplished it and also executed the upgrade of their PeopleSoft system. Abacus worked closely with other hardware vendors such as Sun in executing this project.
TopHartford Insurance
Abacus worked to design and build a proof-of-concept data warehouse system for keeping track of their sales for their sales force. We went through a full life cycle of collecting requirements from users, designing data warehouse database, and showing the proof-of-concept to get further funding to build the production system.
TopRuckus Network
Abacus was responsible for design, building, and maintaining the database systems for Ruckus Network, an online music provider. We have designed a complex data replication system to process and move data in a streamlined fashioned using Oracle Streams product. This system receives music from various record labels, processes the information and publishes it instantaneously on the website for the downloading.
TopAT & T
Our engineers were involved in a project with AT&T customer service division in building their customer service website and billing system. We helped them simplement the high-availability system for their databases between their data center in Georgia and disaster recovery site in Arizona.
